Gangsters killed NYSC Corp Member in Plateau State

Plateau State, Nigeria – February 12, 2025 – It’s just heartbreaking, really. A young man, Safwan Adamu Fade, who was serving with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), lost his life after being brutally beaten by a mob in the Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State. This awful event took place on January 22, 2025, around 6:00 PM, at the township stadium in Pankshin.

The police in Plateau State have already arrested two suspects, Samuel Dang Kat and Zatshinen Wubwerwe—both guys—who are believed to be linked to this terrible incident. According to Emmanuel Adesina, the Commissioner of Police for Plateau State, they got the report on January 23, 2025. Umbule Boreng Reuben, a local resident, alerted them that Fade, who was working at the Federal College of Education in Pankshin, had been attacked and badly beaten by some unknown assailants.

Once they received this emergency report, the police jumped into action. They rushed Fade to the hospital for urgent care. At first, things seemed okay, but then his condition took a turn for the worse. Sadly, he had to be transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where he ultimately lost his battle with his injuries.

During a press briefing at the Plateau Police Command in Jos on Tuesday, Commissioner Adesina shared that the two suspects are currently behind bars. They’re still on the lookout for more individuals thought to be involved in this shocking crime. The police have made it clear that they won’t rest until those responsible are brought to justice.

“The Plateau State Police Command is committed to making sure everyone involved in this horrific act is caught and made to face the music,” Adesina said. “We’re stepping up our efforts to find the remaining suspects and will ensure they end up in court.”

On top of arresting these two suspects, the Commissioner mentioned that in recent operations, they’ve nabbed 24 other individuals for various criminal activities. He expressed his appreciation for the public’s cooperation, highlighting how vital community support is in the fight against crime.

The Plateau State Police are really ramping up their initiatives to tackle criminal activities in the area. Adesina also took a moment to thank the media and the public for helping to raise awareness and back law enforcement.
